Hi, I’m Beth.
This is my consultancy site.
If you’re interested in contracting me for a project or for fractional work, welcome and continue on!
About me
My name is Beth Salyers. I have a PhD. in Curriculum & Instruction and I’m a learning experience design and implementation nerd.
For over two decades, my career has explored and bridged the gap between the potential and the reality of organized learning.
This has led me to discover and apply three key levers of the science of learning and development: 1) the multiple factors that influence how people learn, 2) the power of technology and the arts to enhance learning experiences, and 3) the lived experience of engagement and personal agency.
I am Ohio born, NC raised, and living in New Orleans.

How I work
The 4 Questions I Start With:
What do you want people to feel?
What do you want people to think?
What do you want people to know?
What do you want people to be able to do?
My Formula:
I don’t have a formula. Formulas assume you know every relevant variable ahead of time. But I work with people. People are dynamic, nuanced, and deserve to be met where they are.
I listen. I trust. I lead through dialogue. I observe. I co-create. I co-design.
My approach can best be described as human-centered circular design and systems thinking.
My Positionality:
I hang out and play in the intersection of the Arts, Sciences, and Learning.
This position helps align me to impact that is sustainable, focused, engaged, and inquiry-drive.
In an Admin-focused doctoral-level elective course, I was once referred to as, that social justice girl.
I’ve found that unless we concern ourselves with the lived experience of learning, unlearning and relearning, most typical (and fast and shiny) learning design ends up as distracting, extractive, silencing, or reinforcing that which we don’t want reinforced.
